Narrative A Second Chance (2005):
Edward is a frail, 78-year-old man who discovers the fountain of youth: an idyllic, crystal-clear spring in the wilderness of north-central Florida. After a short swim, he emerges from the water as a 28-year-old. Elated, Edward goes home and tries to convince his 75-year-old wife to do the same. At Second Chance, we make families. Founded in 1985, we are the largest animal rescue group in mid-Missouri. With just two staff members and more than 100 volunteers, we play matchmaker to more than 700 animals each year.
Second Chance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides people, materials and the environment with a second chance. We deconstruct buildings and homes, salvage usable materials and make those - and other donated items - available to the public for reuse in our 200,000 square feet of retail space.
"Second Chance" is the latest addition to the pile! The "excuse" here is supposedly based on Mary Shelley's classic novel Frankenstein. (The producers were even thinking calling the series "The Frankenstein Code").
Second Chance Animal Shelter will be a model shelter, addressing the issues of pet over-population, suffering and abuse and the euthanizing of healthy adoptable animals locally, state wide, nationally and internationally, by providing services and programs that focus on the root causes of these issues.
