Live at Montreux 2011 is a live release by English hard rock band Deep Purple's mk VIII lineup credited as Deep Purple with Orchestra, and performed alongside the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt conducted by Stephen Bentley-Klein. This concert was recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival on 16 July 2011. Besides a 2CD release, the concert film has also been released on DVD and Blu-ray.
This is the latest in a lengthy series of Deep Purple live releases, recorded in Montreux in 2011 accompanied by a full orchestra. I saw them last year in this same configuration, and while the CD doesn't convey the total energy of the band live, it's a pretty good approximation.
As a longtime Deep Purple fan, I was wondering what the current lineup would be like with an orchestra when I went to see them during this 2011 tour: I was fortunate enough to have front row seats between Ian and Steve in Minneapolis, and the set list was essentially identical to this DVD.
